Ruth, aha ! you like very delicate beauties like you, When i saw Helena Bonham Carter i thought she may not make it because of her height. I saw her first in a beautiful film 'A room with a view'
she was very young then. The film was like a poem. i think now every one is after Keira knightly, i saw her first film too, not sure if its her first, 'Bend it like Beckham' she plays a football player. Its a dream of all the Brits to enter Hollywood, where there is money and fame. i don't remember watching Helena Bonham Carter in any Hollywood film. Was she in 'Fight club' ? My favourite Director, David Fincher another name Brit beauty is Victoria Tenent, saw her in only one film with Steve Martin's 'LA Story', very heart warming film. Don't know if she is still around.
We just watched "Room with a View" recently, and I absolutely loved it. She was very young. Maggie Smith was wonderfully annoying. Bonham Carter is married to Tim Burton, the filmmaker who made "Sleepy Hollow" and maybe "Edward Scissorhands"? I do recall Bonham Carter in "Fight Club" - quite a dark character, I remember.
"Bend it like Beckham" is wonderful. Yes, Peter is in love with Keira Knightley, along with everyone else. But I disliked the new "Pride & Prejudice." Lesley and I regularly watch the 5-part BBC version of P&P, so watching a brief 2-hour film just doesn't give enough attention to the rich details of the story. It's my favorite book. I thought Knightley's Miss Bennet was too contemporary. Miss Bennet was thoroughly modern and progressive for her time, but Knightley's portrayal did not work for me.
I don't know Victoria Tenent.
She could be Helen Bonham Carter's sister. Quite ethereal.
